England boss Sarina Wiegman has admitted it will take a ‘miracle’ for Beth Mead to recover from an ACL injury in time for the World Cup this summer.
Mead, who won the golden boot at the European Championships, had not ruled herself out of making the tournament in Australia and New Zealand after sustaining the knee injury in November.
The forward told Sportsmail last month that she was ahead of schedule in her recovery but Wiegman, who announced her 25-player squad for upcoming games against Brazil and Australia, believes the World Cup will come too soon.
