Matt Burton was Canterbury's hero as the Bulldogs pulled off a sensational 15-14 win in golden point against the Cowboys at Accor Stadium to give Josh Reynolds the perfect welcome back to the NRL.

The New South Wales star nailed a 30-metre field goal as the home side clinched what Fox League commentator Warren Smith described as a 'miracle win' after trailing going into the final minute of play.

Burton's kicking game and a line break from Josh Addo-Carr put the Bulldogs in position to take one shot at field goal before the first period of extra time expired on Sunday night.

The premiership winner needed only one chance, clinching the result and helping the Bulldogs celebrate Josh Reynolds' homecoming in style.

Burton's crucial field goal atoned for his failed conversion as time expired, which would have given the Bulldogs the win in regulation.
