NBC Sports analyst Robbie Mustoe believes from a performance standpoint, recently sacked Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers should have been fired long ago. 

Rodgers was sacked by the Premier League club Sunday morning imminently following a last-gasp loss at Crystal Palace amid six losses in seven across all competitions. 

'I'm a little surprised because they're in financial fair play difficulties,' Mustoe said on NBC's Premier League coverage Saturday. 'They announced record losses after the last season, I think 92.5m pounds ($114m).

'So that's, you know, when you fire a manager, you got to pay him off. So that's why I didn't think they were going to do that.

'That being said now, if you forget about that argument, he should have gone a while ago, [he] should have been fired a while a while ago because this team has looked stale for the last few months.'
