The Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field, has opened up on his dream of owning his beloved Wests Tigers, revealing he would like the split the merged club apart again: with one condition.

The 60-year-old star happily admits he 'lives in the past' when it comes to footy, and has been a Balmain Tigers tragic since he was a young boy in the 1960s, and is regularly seen at footy fanatically cheering on the now-merged club.

Before they merged with Wests Magpies to create the Wests Tigers in the NRL, Balmain were one of the most successful clubs in the league. They were a foundation club back in 1908, and won 11 premierships before the merger in 2000.

Field says 'the world would be a better pace if Balmain came back', particularly given the Magpies own 90 per cent of the NRL licence thanks primarily to club giant Wests Ashfield, one of Sydney's most profitable gaming venues.

The only remaining original member of supergroup The Wiggles, Field says he would love to complete a 'fairytale' and buy into the club - and it isn't an entirely fanciful idea, either.

A majority owner of the Wiggles, an astonishing money spinner around the world, it is estimated he has a net worth of $20million, with the group itself worth well in excess of $50million.

With that fortune, he'd love to become one of what would be five private owners in the NRL - but even so he admits he'd need an even larger pile of cash so he can make the entire dream come true and have Balmain stand on its own.

'All my money now is invested in the Wiggles, and it would be a fairytale, but one day the Wiggles may sell somewhere ... If the Wiggles were sold one day for a ridiculous amount of money, I would definitely do it,' Field told the Daily Telegraph
