Former Formula One team principal Eddie Jordan has ruled out Daniel Ricciardo replacing Sergio Perez as Red Bull's No2 driver.

The Australian returned to Red Bull as reserve driver this year after parting ways with McLaren 12 months earlier than planned following two unsuccessful seasons.

The eight-time Grand Prix winner has vowed to remain in Formula One after being replaced by Oscar Piastri at McLaren, but failed to land a spot on the grid for this season.

While Jordan has not shut the door on Ricciardo securing a seat for next season, he's adamant he won't be replacing Perez at Red Bull.

'I’ve gone through this on a number of occasions and I actually think, you know, Daniel Ricciardo is there, but there’s no way Daniel is going to do the job that Checo [Perez] is doing,' he said on the Formula For Success podcast.

'Having seen what Daniel has done, and as much as we like the guy, he’s just a fabulous person to be around, but Checo is doing a magic job.'

Perez finished third in the drivers' championship standings last season behind world champion Max Verstappen
