That stems from the fearlessness of Tony Mowbray’s youthful squad and the swagger of Amad Diallo and Patrick Roberts, both excellent as Sunderland gained a 2-1 win over Luton to take to Kenilworth Road for Tuesday's second leg. A defensive injury crisis simply became an opportunity to put more attacking players on the pitch for Mowbray as a stunner from Manchester United loanee Diallo and a Trai Hume header turned the game after Elijah Adebayo’s early opener for Luton. Others would be tempted to shut up shop in the second leg but Mowbray said: ‘We have to go to Luton and try to win. We won’t be protecting anything, we won’t be trying to slow the game down, we won’t be putting loads of men at the back. We’ll be playing our game. ‘We have confidence going away from home, believing we can win football matches and not have to sit in and hang on.’ Amad Diallo has led Sunderland's youthful, attacking side to the Championship play-offs Manager Tony Mowbray has insisted his side won't stop attacking as they try to reach the Premier League Patrick Roberts (left) has also shone from Sunderland, who hold the advantage against Luton Luton finished 11 points above Sunderland in the Championship and are usually strong on the road, but they faded after a bright start.
