Former New York Jets running back Ty Johnson has revealed that the team released him just days after telling him to get surgery for an injury suffered while working out on his own.
The Jets released Johnson on April 26 with a non-football injury designation, but the former Detroit Lions running back took to social media this weekend to tell his side of the story.
Johnson has explained that after he informed the team he suffered a torn pectoral muscle while working out, the instruction of the team doctor was for him to get surgery, which he duly obliged.
The following week, he says, he was cut by the team.
'I've had some dark, dark days, man,' Johnson said as he sat in a cold tub.
