Former Dutch international Quincy Promes has been charged over allegedly smuggling 1,370 kilograms of cocaine, the country’s public prosecutor’s office has announced.
The 31-year-old is alleged to have been involved in the importing two batches of cocaine of around 650kg and 713kg, respectively.
Both batches were intercepted in Antwerp in January 2020, as reported by the Dutch newspaper NOS.
Promes and another 31-year-old Dutchman have both been accused of importing cocaine through the port in Belgium.
Dutch media have reported that a preliminary hearing will take place on June 5.
