The hosts had chances to break the deadlock throughout the first half but couldn't find the breakthrough. They allowed New England a glimpse of hope at the death when they found themselves down to ten men. Initially it appeared the red could be overturned as Cufre took the ball first but after a lengthy VAR review the original decision stood. NYCFC suffered more misery Saturday afternoon as they lost Brian Cufre to a red card The goalless game came jut hours after defender Tayvon Gray was suspended by MLS for an allegation of using 'language that violates league policy' vs. FC Cincinnati on Wednesday, the league announced. Gray played 58 minutes and started the match, which New York City lost 3-1 at home. Immediately after the game, there were no public reports or allegations made about Gray's conduct. MLS released a statement on Saturday morning. 'Major League Soccer is aware of an allegation that New York City FC's Tayvon Gray used language that violates league policy during the NYCFC vs. FC Cincinnati match on May 31,' the statement read.' 'Gray is not eligible to play while the matter is under review by the League. Additional information will be provided upon completion of the review. An NYCFC spokesperson declined to comment on the matter to Mail Sport.
