The NFL has opened an investigation into an Indianapolis Colts player for possible violations of the league's gambling policy.
The Colts organization acknowledged the probe Monday afternoon, releasing a statement that read: 'We are aware of the NFL's investigation and will have no further comment at this time.'
It comes after sporthandle.com released a report claiming that an investigation was ongoing into Colts player's 'pervasive' betting, including wagers placed on his own team.
The player was not named by the report nor by the team.
The NFL announced they have suspended five players for gambling on games in the 2022 season - with punishments set to take effect in the upcoming 2023 season.
