Juventus have signalled their intention to leave the European Super League project - more than two years after it failed to get off the marks.
Reports in Italy yesterday suggested that the Bianconeri were finally backing away from the idea of a league consisting of Europe's top clubs.
The decision would leave Barcelona and Real Madrid as the last ones standing out of the original 12 teams who said they would take part - a list that included England's 'Big Six'.
Diario AS reported that Juventus' decision was due to allegedly receiving a warning from UEFA who threatened to give them a three-year ban from European competitions.
In a statement on their official website, Juventus confirmed they have sent a letter to Barcelona and Real Madrid 'in order to initiate a discussion period among the three teams' concerning the Bianconeri's 'potential exit' from the Super League project.
