The English Football League (EFL) has signed a new record-breaking five-year deal with Sky Bet to be its title sponsor until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The agreement - which represents a 50 per cent increase in the value from the previous deal - will see the company extend its sponsorship of the EFL to 15 seasons.

Having first agreed a deal for the start of the 2013-14 season, taking over from Npower, the partnership will become one of the longest in professional sport.

Sky Bet will also invest £1million per season and £6m in total into a community fund which the EFL will control and invest into communities where clubs are located.

The sponsorship will cover all three leagues within the EFL along with the play-offs, which saw plenty of drama yet again this season after another enthralling round of finals during the final weekend of May.

The Championship and League Two play-off finals were both settled on penalties, with Luton and Carlisle securing promotion.

Elsewhere, the League One final was settled by a winning goal from Sheffield Wednesday's Josh Windass in the final minute of extra-time.

Sky Bet will also continue to hand out various awards each season, including the Manager, Player and Goal of the Month accolades.
