Mikel Arteta has hinted that Gabriel Jesus, who is out with a hamstring injury, may not be ready to return right after the international break.

The Brazilian has had a torrid time with injury, having undergone two knee surgeries within two weeks.

‘I cannot guarantee that — we are trying to get that recovery as quick as possible,’ he said.

‘I said that it will be weeks, but very difficult to put a time frame still, right now.’

Arteta has described St James’ Park as one of the ‘toughest places to go’ as his Arsenal side prepare for a hostile battle at Newcastle on Saturday.
