Punk left the wrestling business for seven years after walking out on WWE the night after the 2014 Royal Rumble.
This month's Survivor Series event will be held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois - just north of CM Punk's home city of Chicago, sparking rumours of a comeback.
Fightful Select have now reported that there's no animosity between the two parties and that WWE are open to his return - though no discussions are yet in place.
