Sam Kerr is the name on everyone's lips in Australia, after the Matildas captain was hit with a criminal charge in a London court on Monday.
Kerr, 30, is set to face a four-day trial in February 25 after she allegedly racially abused a police officer following a night out in Twickenham. The Metropolitan Police say the dispute occurred following a complaint over a taxi fare.
On Tuesday, Football Australia revealed they had no knowledge of the alleged offence, which is claimed to have taken place on January 30, 2023, calling into question why Kerr did not make the governing body aware after she was charged in January of this year.
Kerr entered a not guilty plea on Monday, with her legal team hoping to have the case thrown out when they return to court next month.
