Sheffield Wednesday boss Dany Rohl has confirmed that the Championship strugglers will not be making a move for former Germany international Nico Schulz, who appeared in court last month on assault charges.

Schulz made an appearance in court in February this year after he was charged with assaulting his former partner three times in 2020, but had been seen training with Wednesday.

The ex-Germany international was ordered to pay a sum of over £128,000 (approximately €150,000) to a number of different charities in order for the case to then be discontinued.

His former partner is believed to have refused to testify in the case, according to reports.

Schulz was released from Borussia Dortmund in July last year following the charges, and as a free agent had been training at Wednesday, only for the club's manager Rohl to receive an open letter on social media against the potential signing.
