Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka continued her preparations for the Miami Open, just two days on from her boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov's death.

Miami-Dade Police confirmed Tuesday that Koltsov, who had been dating Australian Open champion Sabalenka, 25, for three years, died at the age of 42 on Monday in an 'apparent suicide' after jumping from a hotel balcony in Miami.

The Belarusian former professional hockey player, who shares three children with ex-wife Julija Mikhailova, is believed to have joined his girlfriend in the city as she prepared for the Miami Open, where she begins her campaign this Friday.

Despite his apparent suicide, World No. 2 Sabalenka still intends on playing the WTA tournament in the Sunshine State this week, the Tennis Channel reported Tuesday.

Ahead of her Round of 64 match against her best friend, Spain's Paula Badosa, on Friday, Sabalenka took to court to work on her forehand and serve Wednesday afternoon.

Despite grieving, the Belarusian tennis star channeled her focus into her training with her coaches.

At one point, Sabalenka, who appeared be grimacing at times, wiped her face with an orange towel as she took a break on a court-side bench.

Sabalenka also trained on Tuesday, with footage shared by Polish sports commentator Bartosz Ignacik, showing her working on her serve a mere 24 hours after Koltsov's passing was confirmed.

Kolstov 'was very likely drunk' when he fell to his death in Miami, his ex-wife Mikhailova told media in Belarus Wednesday.

The Miami-Dade Police Department has taken over the investigation into the suspected suicide, but in an interview with media in her native Belarus, Mikhailova has given her view on what might have happened.

She has claimed that her ex-husband 'was very likely drunk' before the fatal fall, and while she says booze bottles were found in his hotel room, officers were unable to locate a suicide note. She also says his recent behavior indicated, in her view, that he was not preparing to take his own life.

'Most likely, he was very drunk,' she told Zerkalo. 'Unfortunately, hockey players are sometimes guilty of this.

'Empty alcohol bottles were found in the room where Konstantin stayed. There was a balcony overlooking the ocean. Probably Konstantin did not keep track of his actions.

'We still have the old family computer with Konstantin's email. I knew the passwords and managed to open some emails. Konstantin had further booked apartments in a different location. Purchases that have not yet arrived have been paid for. He rented a car for a long time.
