Esteban Ocon has opened up about why he broke down in tears in the car park at the Australian Grand Prix in 2019, describing it as his lowest moment as a Formula One driver.
The Frenchman spent a year on the sidelines in 2019, having lost his seat at Force India to Lance Stroll after the American's fashion billionaire father Lawrence bought the team.
Ocon found refuge at Mercedes as a reserve driver, but the season was still a mental struggle - especially the first race in Melbourne.
'Turning up at the first race, speaking to Mercedes about when was I going to be testing the car, they said, "Oh yeah, you are going to test in three or four months",' he told the High Performance Podcast.
'Then I came back in the car back then and I cried in the parking lot, I remember. Luckily we found the solution to come back again.'
