Luis Rubiales has been branded 'a compulsive, racist, sexist liar' by his own uncle after the World Cup 'kissgate' scandal that could see him sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.

The former Spanish football federation president faces charges of sexual assault for the 'unwanted' kiss and coercion linked to his alleged attempts to get Jenni Hermoso to speak out in his defence.

Rubiales was arrested upon his return to Spain from the Dominican Republic on Wednesday as part of an unrelated corruption investigation.

The 46-year-old has faced criticism from his uncle Juan, who previously served as his chief of staff before being sacked in May 2022.

In an interview with Telecinco's La Mirada Crítica, Juan labelled his nephew as 'authoritarian, sexist and at times racist'.

'My nephew is a compulsive liar,' he said.

'He has tremendous ambition. He is a man consumed by the desire for money, luxury.

'He is a person obsessed with power, the erotics of power, feeling like 'number one'. He gives you the money.

'He is obsessed with fancy meals, fancy trips, with sex, he needs help.'

Juan was sacked by his nephew when the two worked together at the Spanish FA HQ in Madrid after clashing several times.

Last August, Juan spoke out about a controversial 'work meeting' held at a luxury £1.5 million villa overlooking the sea which allegedly turned into an orgy.

The party was hosted by Rubiales three years ago at the villa called Luxury Paradise in the picturesque village of Salobrena on Spain's southern coast.

Spanish media have previously claimed it was an orgy with girls paid out of football federation funds but this was never proven.

In an interview with El Confidencial and El Mundo, Juan said: 'I was called to a work meeting in a villa in Salobrena. When I got there was no work meeting or anything.

'They (Rubiales and colleagues) brought eight or ten girls. I told him, "You've gone crazy, they are 18 years old, they could be your daughters!", and I locked myself in a room.

'He came to see me, I told him I didn't want to participate in it and he replied: "You're always the same, you're annoying."'

Juan's latest comments follow an interview given by his nephew to broadcaster La Sexta this week.

The former UEFA vice-president has accused Hermoso of 'false feminism' amid the World Cup 'kissgate scandal'.

Rubiales, 46, kissed Hermoso on the lips as she stepped up to receive her medal following Spain's victory over England in the Women's World Cup final in August last year.

'I have a clear conscience. Things have become crazy. A small thing has gone on to devour a person,' he said.

'I wanted to be calm and get
