sport news Man United's nepo babies: As Darren Fletcher's twin sons sign Old Trafford ... trends now

Darren Fletcher's twin sons Jack and Tyler have followed in his footsteps by signing their first professional contracts at Manchester United.

The boys put pen to paper after turning 17, having made the switch across from rivals Man City last summer in a deal worth £1.25million.

Darren, 40, works as part of Erik ten Hag's coaching staff as technical director, so can keep a watchful eye on the progress of Jack and Tyler.

Both are midfielders, meaning they really are a chip off the old Fletcher block and if they go on to be anywhere near as successful as their dad, United will have done the family proud.

But Fletcher isn't the only former United star whose son is hoping to make it to the top of the game.

ROMEO BECKHAM

One of the most famous names in football after dad David's hugely successful career at Old Trafford, which saw him win a multitude of trophies in Sir Alex Ferguson's great teams.

Romeo Beckham, second son to David and Victoria, is 21 and currently plays for Brentford's B team. Unlike his father, Romeo plays as a forward and is an Arsenal fan.

Indeed, Romeo started off his career in the Gunners' youth ranks alongside brothers Brooklyn and Cruz before signing for Inter Miami, the MLS club David owns, aged 19.

He impressed during a six-month loan at Brentford, securing a permanent deal, and will hope to make a senior team breakthrough in the future.

HARVEY NEVILLE

The 21-year-old son of ex-United and England player Phil Neville is currently at MLS Next Pro club Portland Timbers 2 as he looks to make it professionally.

Harvey, who can play as a right-back or in midfield, followed in his dad's footsteps by playing for United's youth sides and also had stints with Valencia and Man City.

When Phil was in charge of Inter Miami, Harvey signed for their affiliated reserve team Fort Lauderdale and went on to play in the Inter Miami first team.

When his dad took up the head coach role at Portland Timbers, son went along too and he'll hope to get a regular run of MLS action in due course.

KAI ROONEY

Remember the name? Well, yes, because there are hopes Kai, 14, could be every bit as successful as dad Wayne, who is United's all-time leading goalscorer.

Like quite a few talented youngsters in the region, Kai spent time with United and City before opting for United when his dad returned to England from the United States to coach Derby in 2020.

Rooney Snr understandably couldn't conceal his pride when his son signed for United and Kai - a forward, naturally - smashed the club's under-12 season goalscoring record with 56.

Last year, he helped United beat City to win the Under-13 National Cup North by scoring a goal in a
