Liverpool are reportedly meeting with Ruben Amorim's agent as the Sporting Lisbon boss edges closer to becoming the club's new manager.

The hunt to find a successor to Jurgen Klopp has been underway ever since the German shocked the sporting world by announcing in January that he would step down at the end of the season.

Xabi Alonso initially appeared to be the club's number one candidate with his Bayer Leverkusen side flying high in the Bundesliga and on course for a first-ever league title.

However, the Spaniard dropped a bombshell on his former club last month after it was reported that he intends on staying at the BayArena.

As such attention has been turned to Amorim, who is said to have scored highly on Liverpool's data tests.
