Ready to feel old?

Retired All-Star Matt Holliday’s son Jackson is making his Major League debut for the Baltimore Orioles today at age 20 – just six years after his father retired as a member of the Colorado Rockies.

The first pick of the 2022 MLB Draft, Jackson now ranks as baseball’s top prospect according to ESPN, MLB.com and The Athletic. And as seen in some recently surfaced footage from his father’s early days in the Majors, Jackson has been destined for the big leagues for some time.

The clip from Denver’s ABC affiliate shows Jackson as a toddler playing toss with his father at Coors Field before showing off his budding left-handed swing.

‘Jackson Holliday was a baller, even at a young age,’ blogger David Mendelson wrote on X. ‘Matt Holliday’s son debuting today definitely has me feeling old.’

Baltimore released footage on social media of Jackson's callup.

The video shows someone off camera, presumably Norfolk Tides manager Buck Britton, discussing Matt with the 20-year-old Jackson.

'Tonight, I want you to call your dad,' the voice is heard telling Jackson. 'I want you to talk to him and I want you to thanks him for all the times he’s allowed you to come into the clubhouse, be on his pass list, let you hit with the big boys.

'The second thing I want you to tell him is that now it’s time for him to ask permission to be on Jackson Holliday’s pass list because you’re going to the big leagues.'

Jackson was delighted, if not entirely surprised.

'That's awesome,' he said.

His manager responded: 'Congratulations. Call your dad.'
