It is widely regarded as the greatest goal ever scored by a celebrity on Soccer AM.

Live on the Sky Sports morning show, Kasabian star Serge Pizzorno flicked up the ball before volleying it into a tiny hoop – while famously wearing a pair of winklepickers.

But the musician, 43, has confessed the stunning piece of skill - which has been viewed millions of times online - wasn’t quite as impressive as everyone thinks.

Speaking to Geoff Shreeves on his podcast Football, Music and Me, Serge revealed he wasn’t actually wearing winklepickers and had in fact deliberately worn more sensible footwear – a pair of Clarks desert boots.

He said: ‘We'd played in Paris the night before and we'd had a few beers in the back of the tour bus.’

‘And at that point, I said, “I'm just going to try something tomorrow.” You gotta try something.

‘I had Clark's desert boots on, because I purposely knew that they were the coolest shoes that you could have on without looking like you're desperate.

‘You don't want to turn up with Copa Mundials [football boots], you know what I mean? You can't look like you're too serious about it.

‘I'm gonna probably kill loads of people's dreams there, but I wasn’t wearing winklepickers... Every time I watch it, I go, “How has no one noticed that they are not Winklepickers?”’
