The Scottish Cup final is set to go head-to-head with the FA Cup final in a 3pm kick-off slot on Saturday, May 25.
Celtic and Rangers are scheduled to meet in the first Old Firm Scottish Cup showpiece for 22 years at the same time as Manchester City go head-to-head with arch-rivals Manchester United at Wembley.
And Mail Sport understands there is no appetite for a repeat of the ferocious row sparked after the SFA switched last season’s Hampden finale to 5.30pm to avoid a ratings clash with the all-Manchester showdown in London.
Finalists Celtic and Inverness Caledonian Thistle released statements slamming the decision while MSPs from the Holyrood Sports Committee wrote to the governing body claiming the decision set a ‘dangerous precedent’ and urged them to reconsider.
The SFA said the later kick-off was designed to give the match ‘as wide an
