Cronulla playmaker Braydon Trindall has reportedly entered rehab and will not be playing for the Sharks anytime soon with his footy future hanging in the balance.

The 24-year-old five-eighth failed a roadside alcohol and illicit drugs tests early on Monday morning after reportedly partying with teammates.

The test was following his team's 42-6 win over North Queensland Cowboys at PointsBet Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Cronulla Sharks chief executive Dino Mezzatesta said the club is backing the star with his recovery.

'It's important we understand the issues, and, more importantly, that we attend to them,' he told News Corp.
