Lucy Zelic has launched an extraordinary tirade against trans women, with the former SBS broadcaster telling biological males to 'stop pretending' to be women.

Zelic, 37, recently expressed her opposition to the inclusion of a football team - Flying Bats FC - in a Football NSW competition, with five of the women's players born biological men.

'I am a big believer in protecting the integrity of the sport,' she said, while insisting she is 'not transphobic'.

The presenter, who has covered the FIFA World Cup for SBS, has since posted a 697-word statement on her X account on Tuesday, in which she claimed that trans women will never be able to share the experience of biological women.

'If trans women were women, there would be no dispute over what a woman is because there isn’t, and should never be, a dispute about what a woman is,' she said.

'The fact that there is, is a great blemish on the timeline of our history and those responsible for silencing, judging and discounting women over this, should be grossly ashamed of themselves. They will not be forgotten.'

She went on to list the numerous traumatic experiences of a women that, she believes, can never be experienced by those who have transitioned from male to female.

'Stop pretending to know what it feels like to go for a walk on your own and feel your heart stop when you see a man, or a slow car approaching,' she said, among other examples.

A spokesperson for SBS told Daily Mail Australia that Zelic left the broadcaster in 2021.

Zelic's post elicited a number of negative reactions from her followers, with one saying: 'Rough to see you go down this path.'

There were also a handful of replies in support of Zelic's stance.
