Prime Minister and South Sydney tragic Anthony Albanese has reacted to the sacking of Jason Demetriou, declaring he put in an 'extraordinary effort.'
It comes as club powerbrokers confirmed a conversation with master mentor Wayne Bennett will be part of the 'exhaustive' process to secure a new head coach ahead of the 2025 NRL season.
Albanese, a long-time Bunnies supporter, said Tuesday would have been a 'hard day' for Demetriou who was axed with two years to run on his contract and his team languishing in 17th spot on the NRL ladder.
'He put in an extraordinary effort as coach. A decent man,' Albanese said.
'It would have been a tough day for him [Tuesday], but I wish him all the very best.'
