Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman have named their top five Premier League players of the season on Mail Sport's It's All Kicking Off! and Arsenal stars have dominated the ranks.

Things are reaching boiling point at both ends of the table with Man City and Arsenal locked in a two-horse race to the title, while Luton and Nottingham Forest scrap to avoid the drop.

Only three games remain in the English top-flight season with City going for a fourth consecutive title and former Premier League winner Sutton joined co-host and Mail Sport's Football Editor Ladyman in running over their top performers of the season.

Manchester United's tumultuous campaign means no member of Erik ten Hag's squad made the cut, but there is a spot for one Chelsea star who has exceeded the expectations of both Ladyman and Sutton.

Phil Foden has been Man City's best performer of the season on the other side of Manchester and was crowned Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year on Friday and there have been a host of brilliant individual outings within Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team.

Declan Rice was a prominent feature in both lists after starring during his debut season at Arsenal

Ladyman offered his verdict first and named England international Foden as the best player in the Premier League this season, while also reserving spots for Cole Palmer, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

'Phil Foden number one, Cole Palmer number two, Martin Odegaard number three, Declan Rice number four and Jarrod Bowen number five,' said Ladyman.

'What gives me a little bit of pleasure is Bowen has 16 Premier League goals in 32 starts, that's decent for a guy that doesn't always play through the middle.'
