Arne Slot is expected to be announced as the successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool in the near future but the Feyenoord boss has suggested that nothing has been made official as of yet.

The hiring has been verbally agreed but it appears there is work to be done on the terms.

'Nothing has been officially confirmed yet,' Slot said on Friday ahead of his team's clash with PEC Zwolle this weekend.

'I'm sitting here with the Feyenoord emblem on my chest, so in principle the intention is that it's all about Feyenoord.

'I have said before that I am confident that it will be done. I don't know when that will be. But I expect an agreement will be reached.'

Departing Reds manager Klopp has urged English football fans to lay off his replacement and give him time while insisting he has left the club in an extremely healthy state.

Klopp has dubbed this current iteration of his Reds side as 'Liverpool 2.0' and the 56-year-old says that, even though he is leaving, the new manager can continue to make positive steps with the young team that won the Carabao Cup in February.
