After her nightmare experience of being locked up in Russia in 2022, Brittney Griner insists that becoming a mother will peak any championship she wins or has won on the basketball court.
The WNBA star was imprisoned by Russian authorities after a vape cartridge containing small amounts of CBD oil was spotted in her bag at an airport. Griner was detained for 293 days before her wife Cherelle Griner's efforts to get her home materialized.
17 months since returning Stateside on a prisoner swap, Griner spoke with USWNT legend Megan Rapinoe about her excitement as she and Cherelle prepare to welcome their son in the coming months.
'Screw the championships and all the trophies and all that; that's going to be the highest peak of my life right there,' Griner said about motherhood.
'I can't wait to go fishing and off-roading and teach them everything my dad taught me, them coming to me for advice and watching them learn something or figure something out for the first time. That's going to be the biggest joy.'
