Pat Riley has hit out at Jimmy Butler after the Heat forward claimed that Miami would have beaten the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks in the NBA playoffs had he been healthy.

The Heat were ousted from the postseason after just five games in the first round as they were blown out at times in their four defeats to Boston, and Riley, the team's president, was in no mood to laugh at his star's comments during an end-of-season press conference held on Monday. 

'For him to say that, I thought, is that Jimmy trolling or is that Jimmy [being] serious?' Riley asked. 

'If you're not on the court, playing against Boston, or you're not on the court playing against the New York Knicks, you should keep your mouth shut in your criticism of those teams.' 

Butler sat out of the playoffs this year due to an MCL injury sustained in Miami's play-in loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
