The Denver Broncos are mourning the death of Veronica Ibarra, who served as a staffer for the team and executive assistant for the family of late owner Pat Bowlen for 27 seasons.

9News Denver reported that Ibarra passed away on Saturday after a battle with an aggressive form of cancer. She was 55.

Ibarra was known among her colleagues for her extraordinary organizational skills, strong-willed spirit, and unwavering love for the Broncos. Aside from her grit, direct nature, and sense of humor, Ibarra was considered the glue of the Bowlen family in many ways.

'She was one of a kind,' said Lisa Williams, who was also one of Bowlen's executive assistants and worked with Ibarra.

'You didn't pull the wool over her,' Williams added. 'Her primary focus was to make sure Pat's family was taken care of. Bills are paid. Help them with car insurance, or getting their car, or getting the lease right for their apartments. She did everything like a parent would do. Get it done.'

After his death, Bowlen became one of 12 team owners elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Ibarra supported Bowlen and his family on organizational and personal levels, from Super Bowl runs to helping understand the logistics behind an owner's induction into the Hall of Fame.
