ARL Commission boss Peter V'landys has confirmed current footy stars will likely be offered extra money and other incentives to be based fulltime in Papua New Guinea - as the Pacific Nation firms as the 18th NRL franchise.
A PNG task-force has been created, with V'landys stepping up negotiations with Anthony Albanese as part of a $600million commitment.
The Prime Minister has made no secret he wants an NRL team based in Papua New Guinea - and V'Landys admitted those players who choose to play for the franchise - likely to be in 2027 or 2028 - will be rewarded financially.
'It (expansion to PNG) is a few years away but we are certainly looking at this with the Federal government,' V'landys said.
'If you play over there you might get tax-free dollars, so you will get a lot more money than you are now because you aren't paying the same level of tax.
