International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach has criticised World Athletics for offering $50,000 (£39,000) to gold medallists at Paris 2024.

World Athletics president Lord Coe announced last month that his sport would break with a 128-year Olympic tradition by offering prize money to winners at this summer’s Games.

The total $2.4m (£1.9m) prize pot will come from the governing body’s share of the IOC’s broadcast revenue, which they are entitled to spend how they choose.
