Liverpool's failed pursuit of Naby Keita has taught them a valuable lesson in how to deal with their current predicament regarding the future of Philippe Coutinho, according to Reds legend Robbie Fowler.
Jurgen Klopp's side had several bids rejected for the Guinean midfielder as his club RB Leipzig held firm, and now Liverpool find themselves in a very similar position.
Fowler believes this experience will see Liverpool hold strong and realise that they hold the power in such a situation, despite Coutinho - like Keita - angling for a move away from the club.

Addressing the situation with regards to Liverpool's recent courting of Keita, Fowler wrote in his Sunday Mirror column: 'The club (Leipzig) had the power after all.
'Keita has already indicated he'll get his head down and play because he has a contract, and he'll wait for next summer, Coutinho probably has to do the same.'
