star Gareth Bale has stepped up his recovery from injury ahead of his side's clash with former side Tottenham.

The La Liga giants face their first trip to Wembley for Wednesday's Champions League clash. But they will be without ex-Spurs talisman Bale for the Group H tie.

The 28-year-old returned to training on Monday but failed to recover from his calf injury in time to be included in Zinedine Zidane's 19-man squad for the trip to London.
