Dante Stakes winner and second favourite Roaring Lion has been given the green light to run in the Investec Derby at Epsom a week on Saturday but a question mark still hangs over who will ride third favourite Young Rascal.

James Doyle rode William Haggas-trained 10-1 shot Young Rascal when he won the Chester Vase.

But there remains a chance Doyle could be claimed to ride Mark Johnson-trained Chester Vase runner-up Dee Ex Bee.

That colt runs in the colours of Sheik Hamdan, son of Sheik Mohammed who retains Doyle through his Godolphin operation.

Johnston told Racemail that while he would not be pushing for Doyle to replace Franny Norton, who was on board Dee Ex Bee at Chester, the decision on a Derby rider ultimately lay with Sheik Mohammed's representatives.
