Apple's long-awaited news and video subscription products could be coming as soon as next month. 

The iPhone maker is expected to host its first major event of the year on March 25th at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, BuzzFeed News reported, citing sources familiar to the situation. 

But don't expect to see any major project releases, however, as it's slated to be a 'subscription services focused' event.

That means Apple's much-rumored update to the iPad Mini and a new pair of AirPods will remain under wraps until at least September, when Apple hosts its big iPhone event. 

In lieu of new iPads and AirPods, Apple is expected to debut two new services - a 'Netflix-like' video subscription product and a news subscription product. 

Apple declined to comment to BuzzFeed on the rumored March event.  

Over the past year, speculation has been building that Apple plans to release a 'Netflix for news' that would allow subscribers to pay $10 a month to get access to content from a wide variety of publishers. 

It would essentially function as a paid version of Apple News and would build on Apple's 2018 acquisition of Texture, also referred to as the 'Netflix for magazines.'

But this week, a Wall Street Journal report detailed how Apple has faced pushback from publishers who have balked at the company's request to take a 50 percent cut of revenue from the new service.

The other 50 percent would be divvied up among publishers based on how much users are reading their content, the Journal said. 

Apple reportedly told publishers that they'd have limited access to subscriber data, which only served to anger them further.  

Animosity from publishers could result in a delay of the date of the March event, BuzzFeed reported. 

Apple is said to have met with the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, among other publications, about having their content added to the subscription service. 

In addition to a news service, Apple is also expected to launch its Netflix-style standalone video subscription service. 

The platform would feature original content from Apple, as well as channels with TV shows and movies from other contentmakers.
