Palm starts selling tiny $350 smartphone at AT&T and T-Mobile

The secret to breaking your smartphone addiction could involve buying another smartphone.

That's what Palm is betting on with its tiny $350 smartphone, which is essentially a compact iPhone, except that it runs on Android and is designed to help users 'focus on what really matters in life outside our screens.'

Palm first launched in November as a 'secondary phone,' but starting today, consumers can buy it unlocked and from an expanded list of carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and MetroPCS.

Now that it's available unlocked, consumers can use the Palm as their primary, standalone smartphone.

Previously, users could purchase the Palm, but they'd have to register it to another device, in addition to using the same phone number.

It was also only available to buy as a standalone phone at Verizon.

Since then, after it received a 'huge response' from consumers, Palm chose to make the device available as a standalone phone in more markets.

'With so many cellular options available in the U.S., we wanted our customers to be able to choose how they use and how they connect their Palm,' Dennis Miloseski, Pam co-founder, said in a statement.

'We received a huge response from digital minimalists looking to just carry their essentials, families wanting to connect kids with less distraction, and athletes desiring powerful connectivity on the go, so we made Palm available to them across more mobile networks in the U.S.'
