Do you own the world's most spoiled dog? Study reveals American breeds that are ... trends now
Most Americans think their pooches are pampered, but a new report has shared some breeds are more spoiled than others.
A poll of dog owners across the US shows herding dogs, like Australian Shepards, Corgis, and Border Collies, are treated like royalty.
Roughly two-thirds (66 percent) out of the 60 percent of respondents who claimed that they had the 'world's most spoiled dog' owned a herding breed, according to the poll.
But non-sporting breeds, including Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and Shiba Inus, weren't far behind: 64 percent of their owners reported that they are convinced their dog is the most lavished upon.
Terriers placed a respectable third, with 59 percent of their owners insisting that their Jack Russell, Scottish or Staffordshire Terrier held the 'world's most spoiled' crown.
Among this top tier of most doted-on breeds, nearly all their owners were in agreement that their dogs lived like royalty at home: 79 percent of herding dog owners, non-sporting breed owners, and terrier owners, equally.
'Most of us will make the claim our dog is 'the' most spoiled dog, but there's a clear trend pointing towards smaller breeds as being the most doted on,' according to Yvethe Tyszka, vice president of marketing at Solid Gold Pet, which commissioned the poll.
