A murder probe has been launched after a man was killed in a brutal baseball bat attack in a town centre.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10pm in Batley last night.

The 31-year-old victim was left with fatal head injuries following an argument with another man.

A 35-year-old male suspect from the Dewsbury area was later arrested on suspicion of murder after he was taken to hospital was stab wounds.

He remains in police custody and inquiries are ongoing. 

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector, Ian Scott said: 'We are not looking for anyone else in what was an isolated incident.
