A mother told her three-year-old son 'shut up or I will give you something to cry for' before he was crushed to death by her boyfriend, a court heard.
Adrian Hoare, 23, allegedly slapped Alfie Lamb around the head and told him to be quiet as he struggled to get comfortable in the rear footwell of a car.
Alfie died after he was pinned against the back seat by Stephen Waterson, 25, as he 'deliberately' rammed his chair back into the youngster twice.
Hoare did nothing to stop Waterson as he crushed her son, it is claimed.
Waterson's sister today told a court how the couple had previously made Alfie sit in the footwell which made him 'cry and scream'. She claimed Hoare told her son: 'Shut up crying or I will give you something to cry for.'
