Ink-redibly unfortunate people receive the worst tattoos they've EVER seen

Handwritten scribble, poorly drawn pictures and a lot of regret.

Drunk tattoos are one of the riskiest parts of a night out - and most of the time those who put themselves through the pain are left with a lifetime of regret.

While there's no law prohibiting drunk people from getting tattoos, many professionals warn against it.

From quirky handwritten jokes to small poorly drawn cartoons - Daily Mail Australia has compiled some of the masterpieces people have come up with that they'd rather forget.

Leading surgeons are urging for the costly mistake to be no more and are calling for an overhaul of tattoo parlours.

Top surgeon Dr Laith Barnouti is pushing for a ban of drunk tattoos as he is fed up of removing them, and often pushes people away.

'Many say they did it at a time they were intoxicated, high and were not fully in the right frame of mind,' he said.

'They popped into a tattoo parlour on a Saturday night after having few drinks and thought it was good idea to have it done.

'Not only were they not thinking straight but they were not able to provide full consent.

'They literally were not realising what they were doing.'

From tattooing the name of an ex-partner to silly cartoons, Dr Barnouti has seen it all.

In a tribute with a twist to McCain Foods Limited, one man got the well-known slogan permanently put on his body with a personal adjustment.

But not only can a tattoo be embarrassing, it can be costly as well in the long run.

On top of paying up to $100 to get the tattoo, regrettable customers can fork out hundreds for its removal.

Dr Barnouti charges between $150-$450 per tattoo-removal session. And that's depending on the size of the tattoo as well.

'Some of these tattoos can't be removed by laser and need surgical removal, which leaves behind a scar,' he said.
