James Goddard, 29, has tried to organise demonstrations like those seen in Paris, while wearing the high-viz vests favoured by protesters in France. His latest attempt was held in Manchester at the weekend, where a handful of people wearing vests faced off with anti-fascist activists while waving flags and placards. Goddard was today arrested on suspicion of assault and a public order offence after claims he threatened a press photographer. Goddard is currently on bail after he was part of a group that surrounded Tory MP Anna Soubry and called her a 'Nazi' and a 'traitor' in January. His arrest last month was in connection with the harassment of the MP, who was confronted by a mob outside Parliament.
