A beloved family pet has tragically died after a faulty solar hot water system flooded the backyard with boiling water which burnt her paws.
Townsville resident Lucy Thomson publicly shared her heartbreak over the loss of dog Roxy on the NQ Disaster Watch, Recovery & Noticeboard Facebook page.
Due to the extreme changes in weather conditions in north Queensland in the last fortnight, the release valve on Ms Thomson's solar hot water system blasted the entire load of overflow hot water into her backyard on Tuesday.
The flood of hot water caused extensive damage and burns to Roxy's paws.

'Sadly, our senior fur baby was there and has suffered for being in the wrong place at the wrong time,' Ms Thomson posted to the Facebook group.
'We are very fortunate that our neighbours were home, phoned us up and rushed her to the vets. Our beloved pet dog is in much pain, even though she is on pain meds.'
