The 11-year-old was taken to hospital by her mother in the Uttar Pradesh district as she was suffering from stomach pains and tests were carried out. Doctors discovered she was pregnant following her months-long ordeal, the Times of India reported. Police in the city of Hathras said two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of raping the girl. When she was asked by doctors, the girl allegedly said she had been sexually assaulting her for months. Increased sexual violence on children and adults in recent years has led to protests across the country. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there was a 12 per cent increase in rapes in 2016, with 39,000 attacks, which is around one rape every 13.5 minutes. In September last year activists took to the streets against the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old girl in Rewari Haryana, in New Delhi.
