The heartbroken mother of a teenager who was fatally stabbed 48 times has said her daughter's memory has been lost, as her killer continues to fight for parole.

In July 2005, 15-year-old Tania Burgess took a shortcut home through Forrester's Beach Resort car park, in New South Wales Central Coast, when she was ambushed by a 16-year-old boy armed with a knife.

She was brutally stabbed almost 50 times, and while most of the wounds were small and shallow, one reached her heart.

Tania's mother Mandy Burgess has spoken of the pain the family have faced since her daughter's horrific murder, while her killer continues to try and fight his conviction.

The murderer, who can only be identified as DL because he was a juvenile when the crime was committed, has tried to turn over his conviction and sentence for years.
