Queensland residents are losing a staggering $4,572 every minute on poker machines, a study has found.
The astronomical number means that Queenslanders emptied $6 million a day or $2.4 billion a year into the pokies in 2018.
The study, which has been conducted every year since 2004, has recorded the highest losses on record and it's set to get even higher this year.

In Queensland, the pokies are currently what people are spending the most money on when it comes to gambling.
In the year leading up to November 2018, $2.2 billion was lost on poker machines, $868 million at casinos, $422 million on the lottery, $248 million on wagering and $93 million on Keno.
Alliance for Gambling Reform director Tim Costello says the rise in poker machine losses are contributing to major misery across Queensland.
