Cyclone Oma is heading our way across the Pacific with wild weather expected to smash Queensland's south-east this weekend.
The weather system that caused devastation in north Queensland a fortnight ago is still lurking around and could return in the coming days to create more destructive chaos.
Cyclone Oma is currently circling off New Caledonia 1,120kms from the Queensland coast and has been upgraded to a category three after changing direction on Tuesday night.
Wild weather is forecast for south-east Queensland in the coming days as Cyclone Oma makes its way across the Pacific Ocean
Although its exact direction won't be known until Thursday, Cyclone Oma's impact is expected to be felt along the southern Queensland coast with destructive 224km/h winds, thunderstorms, three to four metre waves and heavy rain forecast.
A severe weather warning is already in place for abnormally high tides, localised coastal flooding and erosion on the Capricornia, Fraser and Sunshine coasts, Hervey Bay, Moreton Island and along Gold Coast beaches.
