The battle for Australia's top supermarket is heating up with Woolworths retaking the lead over Coles during the second quarter.
Woolworths has bounced back after a tough year, posting a half-year net profit of $920million for the six months to December 30.
The supermarket giant's food sales increased by 2.7 per cent for the second quarter, which has seen it edge out rival Coles that reported sluggish results.

Coles sales growth slowed in the second quarter, with 1.3 per cent growth reported.
Coles has held the top spot for the previous three months – thanks in large part to the 'Little Shop' campaign that saw customers go on a collectable craze.
The chain also had the upper hand after Woolworths decided to stop offering free plastic bags at its checkouts in August last year.
Coles half-year net profit fell 14 per cent to $738 million.
Coles chief executive Steven Cain told analysts on Tuesday it was a 'solid outcome in a challenging retail environment'.
